Rika Zombie Hunter, Nightmares in Red White and Blue, Punisher: War Zone

Rika_zombie_hunter

Zombies and Asian girls, yeah, Rika: Zombie Hunter is not great but it is better than Robo Geisha and Tokyo Gore Police. If you enjoyed Machine Girl, you'll probably like this. 3.25/5

Nightmares-in-red-white-and-bl

Good documentaries about the history of horror in America are few and far between. Nightmares in Red White and Blue is a very enjoyable Cliff Notes version of horror cinema. I really recommend it. 3.75/5

Punisher-war-zone_poster

Punisher just doesn't work as a movie. Doing a vigilante story isn't special. Wrapping the story in comic book excess makes Punisher: War Zone probably the closest we'll ever get to the harshness of comic book. While the first half is great, the second half falls into 60's Batman levels of campiness. 3.5/5

Crimes of Passion, Train, Darah

Crimes_of_passion

Crimes of Passion is one of the more bizarre films I've watching in awhile. Anthony Perkins is just bat shit crazy in this one. Kind of worth watching but you have a high tolerance for shit masquerading as art. 2.75/5

Trainposter

Train is a total mess of a film. Basically Hotel on a train but with anything clever or interesting. Waste of film. 1.5/5

Cover

Darah is basically the same film as Train but done so much better. Maybe it's because I watched them back to back and this shines in comparison, but Darah was gory and over the top but it was also creative and handled by someone with a vision. 3.5/5

Not Another Teen Movie, Hausu (House)

Notanotherteenmovie

Don't judge me. I enjoy this spoof on teen comedies. Not Another Teen Movie is not horrible like Epic Movie, Date Movie or Meet the Spartans. If you haven't seen, it's quite fun. 3/5

Hausu

I'm not sure what is going on in this movie. Hausu is a bizarre, over-the-top blend of humor and horror smother in a very cheese sauce of awesomeness. One of the few cult movies that can be enjoyed solo as well as with a group. 3.75/5

Destricted, Rampo Noir, Vanilla Sky

Destricted

How do you make porn pretentious and boring, let a bunch of artistic director's do a series of short films. Some of the short in Destricted are brilliant, while other shorts just dull or annoying. 3/5

Rampo_noir

Interesting collection of short films. If you like anthology films, Rampo Noir is a good pick. 3.5/5

Vanilla_sky

Vanilla Sky isn't a bad film. You realize that it could just be better if done by a director that knew how to handle the material. If Cronenburg or Lynch had done this instead of Cameron, it would have been amazing instead of just ok. 3/5

Crazies, Life Less Ordinary, Body 19, Peacock

Crazies

The Crazies is really good. I didn't expect to enjoy this so much. 4/5

Lifelessordinaryposter

I can understand why people didn't love A Life Less Ordinary. It's uneven and bizarre but Cameron Diaz never looked better. Enjoyed it. 3.75/5

Body19

Body 19 isn't anything special. It's a slightly above level j-horror. 3/5

Peacock

Didn't know what to expect from Peacock. It's very different and quite good. I'm surprised it didn't play the arthouse theaters. Well worth a rental. 3.75/5
