La Bestia Uccide Sangue Freddo, House of Flying Daggers, M

Labestiauccideasanguefreddo

I've seen most of the giallos out there. The stuff I find these days is usually pretty bad. La Bestia Uccide Sangue Freddo falls into the don't bother category unless you are a completist. 1/5

House-of-flying-daggers-poster

I remember loving House of Flying Daggers. Watching it on blu-ray brings out the amazing colors but the lame special effects really suffer. Still an impressive visual feat. 3.5/5

M-poster

M is a crazy Fritz Lang movie. Peter Lorre is amazing in the film. The film itself isn't the best but it's great to see how many things we thing of as modern has been used for over 100 years. And it looks great on blu-ray. 3.75/5

Knowing, Predators, A L' Aventure

Knowing

I heard good things about Knowing. Despite my better judgement, I rented it. The first hour is great. The second hour undoes all that greatness. 2.5/5

Predators-poster1

Predators is a decent restart of the franchise. I hope they make more. I didn't enjoy it as much the second time. 3/5

Alaventure

A L' Aventure is a sexy French film. I don't think it's for everyone but enjoyable. 3.75/5

The Wild Hunt, Blood Splattered Bride, Street Trash

Wildhunt

The Wild Hunt jumped on my top ten of the year at the last minute. It's a great, dark and disturbing movie about LARP'ers. 4.25/5

Bloodspatteredbride

I love 70's Italian cinema and giallos. While Blood Splattered Bride isn't a giallo, it certainly has all the conventions of one. Plus lesbian vampires. 3.25/5

Street-trash-1987

I think Street Trash is a movie that if you didn't see it at a certain age you probably won't enjoy it. I can see why it's a cult hit but I found it very tedious. 2.5/5

Nude Nuns with Big Guns, Trash Humpers, Bibliotheque Pascal, Dancing Across Boarders

Nudenunsbigguns

Nude Nuns with Big Guns is a step up from director Joseph Guzman. While ridiculously derivative of Robert Rodriquez and Tarantino films, he does show a better understanding what made 70's exploitation films work. 3.25/5

Trash_humpers

Trash Humpers might be one of the worst films in years. Just horrible. 0.5/5

Bibliotheque-pascal-movie-post

Bibliotheque Pascal provides an interesting take on the issue of human trafficking with a surrealist take. Not sure entirely what happened but it was a good watch. 3.5/5

Dancingacrossboarders

Probably one of the worst documentaries I've ever seen. Rich white lady takes a moderately talented Thai dancer and brings him to America to become a moderately talented ballet dancer. Yeah rich white people! 1/5

7 Days, PVC-1, Martyrs

7-days-movie-poster

The French are putting out some amazing horror films these days. 7 Days is a difficult but rewarding film to anyone willing to view it. 4.25/5

Pvc1

PVC-1 is a real time film that keeps the tension tight. 3.75/5

Martyrs-poster

Martyrs is a tough film to watch. I love it and hate it at the same time. It runs though so many areas that the beginning doesn't even begin to hit at the ending. 4.5/5

Heavy Metal, Adam's Apples

Heavy-metal-poster

Not my favorite film but I can see why people like it. The first half of Heavy Metal is much stronger than the second. The story drags forever and derails all the good will established in the first 2/3rds of the film. 3/5

Adams-aebler

Adam's Apples is a charming Danish film starring the always watching Mads Mikkelsen. The running gag with Mikkelsen is great and there are some wonderful bits but it's one note tone kills the pacing of the film. 3.25/5

The Human Centipede, Timecrimes, Necromentia

The-human-centipede

I haven't disliked a movie this much since Dead Girl. Human Centipede just pointless and useless film making. Avoid it. 1/5

Timecrimes

Timecrimes is just a great film. I really enjoy it. If you enjoyed Triangle, watch this, it's better. 4/5

Necromentiaposter

Necromentia has lots of potential and it does a lot with its modest budget. However, it feels like a bad Hellraiser knockoff and the script could use a bit more work. 2.75/5
