Gatta in Calore, Space Jam, La Setti Madonna, Hercules, Touch of Evil

Gatta_in_calore_eva_czemerys_n

Gatta in Calore is a decent enough thriller but nothing special. Fans of Italian cinema will want to check it out. 2.75/5

Space_jam

I thought it might be fun to watch Space Jam again. I was wrong. Just a horrible film. 1/5

Lasettimadonna_poster

La Setti Madonna sounds like it would be a fun revenge film. Three men attack a group of nuns and one goes on a killing spree to get revenge. Sadly, nothing that exciting really happens. 2/5

Hercules

I really enjoy Hercules. James Woods does a fantastic job as the villain. One of my favorite Disney villains. 3.5/5

Touchofevil

Touch of Evil is a beautifully photographed but flawed film. Charleston Heston as a Mexican doesn't work on any level. The blu-ray looks amazing. 3.5/5

Hanna, From Beyond, True Legend, 39 Steps

Hanna-poster

Hanna is still one of my favorite films of the year but it doesn't hold up as well the second time. Still a very solid film. 4/5

From_beyond

Stuart Gordon loves H.P. Lovecraft and what's probably his best adaptation is From Beyond. Great 80's cheesy, gory horror. 3.75/5

True-legend-poster-china

True Legend is what I hate about martial arts films. Half asses martial arts sequences that run on forever and the last 30 minutes is a total waste. 2.25/5

39steps

One of Hitchcock's early films, The 39 Steps is a pretty good, suspenseful film. It's not great but it's easy to see why it's a classic. 3.75/5

Blackboard Jungle, Baba Yaga, Black Sunday

Blackboard_jungle

I was blown away by Blackboard Jungle. It's an odd movie that every film fan should watch. 4.5/5

Baba_yaga

Baba Yaga is a tedious grindhouse film that starts off with lots of promise but doesn't go anywhere or really do anything. Still an interesting curiosity from the 70's. 3/5

Black-sunday-movie-poster1

I love Black Sunday. It's been years since I've seen it, but Mario Bava never disappoints. 4/5

American Grindhouse, Child Bride, Freaks, Baby Doll

American_grindhouse

American Grindhouse is a good overview of what grindhouse cinema is all about. It got me to finally view some classic films I've only heard about. The next three films are all featured in the movie. 4/5

Child_bride

The above documentary got me to search out this film. The story about how horrible old men marrying children is feels shoehorned in. It's not a good movie and exploits the the topics it claims to defend. 3/5

Freaks_poster

I've seen Freaks a few times. For an hour long film, it really drags. The first half is about shows the "freaks" off then the last half pulls in a half baked plot. Still worth watching if you've never seen it. 3.5/5

Babydollposter

This feels like a Tennessee Williams play put on film. It's very staged and the middle drags horribly. By the time it's over, the film drives home its emotional impact. 3.75/5

Bridge on the River Kwai, Les Diabolique, Man Who Would be King

Bridgeontheriverkwai_poster

Bridge on the River Kwai is one of my favorite films. It's in my top ten. Just a perfect movie and it looks even better on blu-ray. 5/5

Lesdiaboliquesposter

Les Diabolique is a great thriller. I highly recommend it. Again the blu-ray is just impressive. 4.25/5

Manwhowouldbeking_poster

I enjoyed The Man Who Would be King. It's not great but Michael Caine and Sean Connery do great jobs. It's like a British version of Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid. 3.5/5

House by the River, Screaming Mimi, Hercules

Housebytheriver

I'm a big Fritz Lang fan and anytime I can see something I haven't seen before, I jump on it. House by the River is classic Lang, dark, moody and slightly disturbing. 4.25/5

Screaming_mimi_1958

Screaming Mimi is a fun film noir but not great. 3.25/5

Hercules1983poster01

Hercules is a horrible, fun movie. You can't judge it on a normal scale because it's about a 1.5/5. It's just so much fun and goofy that it's more like a 4/5.

Anatomy of a Murder, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Gunless

Anatomy-of-a-murder-2

Anatomy of a Murder is one of my all time favorite courtroom dramas. I believe the chicken lawyer from Futurama is based off of this movie. 5/5

Kiss_kiss_bang_bang_poster

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is another one of my all time favorite movies. I've watched it many times over the years and it always makes me laugh. I wish Shane Black with direct more. 4.5/5

Gunless-cover

Gunless is an entertaining western comedy from Canada. Yeah, those words look weird together for me too. 3/5
