Knowing, Predators, A L' Aventure

Knowing

I heard good things about Knowing. Despite my better judgement, I rented it. The first hour is great. The second hour undoes all that greatness. 2.5/5

Predators-poster1

Predators is a decent restart of the franchise. I hope they make more. I didn't enjoy it as much the second time. 3/5

Alaventure

A L' Aventure is a sexy French film. I don't think it's for everyone but enjoyable. 3.75/5

Predators, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Machete

Predators-poster-2-406x600

I had heard very mixed things about Predators. I have to say, I really enjoyed this. It's everything I wanted from a new Predator film. 3.5/5

A-nightmare-on-elm-street-post

A Nightmare on Elm Street got horrible reviews and with good reason. It's not utter trash but it lacks any real tension or scares. 2.75/5

Machete

Machete don't text. The problem is Machete don't act either. As much as I like Danny Trejo, he's not a good lead in a movie. 3/5

The Experiment, Red Riding 1980, Four Lions

The-experiment-movie-poster

Another version of the Stanford Prison Experiment. Adrian Brody and Forest Whittaker do great jobs but in the end the movie just feels clichéd. The ending is very unsatisfying. 2.75/5

Redriding_1980

The second in the Red Riding series, Red Riding 1980 is more interesting than the first in the series but I'm not loving it. Not really sure why so many people loved this series. Maybe it all comes together with the third film. 3/5

Fourlionsposter

Four Lions is a funny movie about clueless jihadist in London. It's a bit of In the Loop mixed with The Office. It's a fun time until you hit the unsettling ending. 4/5

Splice, Last Action Hero, My Son, My Son What Have Ye Done?

Poster_splice-fore

Splice is one of the better movies of the summer. It think it will have a great life on DVD. The director of Cube keeps creating interesting films. 3.75/5

Last_action_hero

I remember hating Last Action Hero when I saw it in theaters. Time has helped this film. Not as bad as I remember but still greatly flawed, Last Action Hero is well worth a revisit if you haven't seen it in a while. Shane Black's script makes it lots of fun. 3.5/5

My_son_360x466

David Lynch produces a Werner Herzog film. Yeah, it's going to be pretentious and weird. My Son, My Son What Have Ye Done is an interesting experiment in movie making. Not for everyone but those that are Herzog fans will find lots to like. 4/5
